 Origami Code of Ethics

Principle 1: All providers will demonstrate a concern for the well being of the recipients of their services.

A. All program personnel will provide services in an equitable manner for all individuals.
B. All personnel will maintain relationships that do not exploit persons served physically, emotionally, sexually, financially, socially or in any other manner.
C. All program personnel will take all reasonable precautions to avoid harm to the person served or his/her property.

Principle 2: All providers will respect the right of persons served for autonomy, privacy, and confidentiality.

A. All service providers (e.g. physicians, therapists, therapy assistants) will collaborate with persons served or their family in determining rehabilitation goals and priorities in the treatment process.
B. All providers will inform persons served of the nature, risks and potential outcome of any intervention.
C. All personnel will respect the individual’s right to refuse professional services or involvement in research or educational activities.
D. All personnel will obtain informed consent from persons involved in research activities
indicating they have been fully informed of the potential risks and outcomes.
E. All personnel will protect confidential nature of information gathered from education,
practice, research and investigation activities.

Principle 3: All providers shall adhere to the code of ethics of their respective professional organizations.

A. Each provider will use procedures that conform to the standard of practice established by their appropriate professional associations.
B. Each provider will provide to the program a copy of the code of ethics of their respective professional organizations.

Principle 4: All personnel shall provide accurate information regarding services offered by the program.

A. All personnel shall accurately represent their qualifications, education, experience, training and competence.
B. All personnel shall disclose any affiliations, which presents a potential conflict of interest.
C. All personnel shall refrain from using or participating in the use of any form of communication that contains false, fraudulent, deceptive, or unfair statements or claims.

D. All personnel shall engage in ethical business practices in areas including; but not limited to, conflicts of interest, marketing, billing, payment application and other such handling of funds or resources.

Principle 5: All personnel shall treat their colleagues and coworkers with fairness, discretion and integrity.

A. All personnel shall safeguard confidential information about colleagues and coworkers.
B. All personnel shall report any breach of ethical standards to the appropriate authority.
