Origami hosts Speech Night: A Reflection of Brain Injury and Recovery

Presented by survivors and significant others. The goal of Speech Night is to
educate the community about traumatic brain injury (TBI) and personal experiences with TBI; to increase survivors and significant others’ awareness and acceptance of TBI-related deficits; to provide the opportunity for survivors to listen to each other’s experiences and discover they are not alone, to allow survivors and significant others time to celebrate the hard work and success made through rehabilitation and “a new beginning.”

HEAD'S UP FOR SAFETY: MAY 17th, 2008

Head's Up for Safety is a prevention event that offers free bike helmets for the first 500 kids in attendance. The focus is on helmet safety and prevention of brain injuries. Community partners including Sinas Dramis Law Firm, ABC53, WFMK 99.1FM, & Michigan Association for Justice contribute to the success of the event. To date Head's Up has distributed over 1,500 helmets to Lansing area kids.
This year's event is located at the Marshall St Fire Station on the corner of Oakland and Marshall St.

Bridging the Gap: Breaking Down Barriers in Brain Injury
Featuring presenters from Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center, Sparrow Health Systems, PAR Rehab Services, White Behavioral Consultants, Tampa Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center, Occupational Assessment Services, and Sinas Dramis Law Firm. The Brain Injury Symposium of Mid-Michigan will address the challenges faced after a TBI for both survivors and family members.

ORIGAMI 5K Run/Walk/Wheel: August 16th, 2008

The Fifth Annual 5K Run/Walk/Wheel will be held at Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center on August 18th. Registration is at 8:00 a.m. and the race begins at 9:00 a.m. All proceeds go to the Origami Brain Injury Survivor Support Fund.
