Audio:

At Origami, you will find a dynamic and innovative team of rehabilitation specialists committed to providing our participants and their families with a holistic approach to recovery.

Located in a wooded area just outside of Lansing, Michigan, the setting at Origami is indeed as spacious and beautiful as depicted in the 360° Virtual Tour. The environment here is an important aspect of the program, and is creatively enfolded into the rehabilitation process. The conceptual model implemented by our extensive staff of therapists and physicians contributes to Origami’s unique position to serve individual needs throughout the continuum of care, and across a broad spectrum of programs and services. We are a non-profit organization resulting from a creative alliance between Michigan State University Health Team and Peckham, Inc. The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation within the College of Osteopathic Medicine provides us with expertise in clinical management and on-site physician coverage. Peckham supports us with its strong community presence, long recognized for important contributions in vocational rehabilitation, residential management, and maximizing opportunities for those with disabilities.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is unique and individualized in its presentation. At Origami, we address the cognitive, physical, spiritual, and behavioral challenges of our participants from a holistic educational perspective. Within a supported community environment, we seek to assist the injured individual regain a sense of dignity and a desire to effectively master self-management skills. This is accomplished through a pervasive emphasis on rational, guided feedback, redirection, training and practice in the use of compensatory strategies, and a well-coordinated treatment team guided by a single conceptual model unifying the therapeutic plan of care. At Origami, the participant, their families, significant others, case managers, and other external stakeholders are considered critical participants in the rehabilitation process.

We welcome your questions. We invite you to visit. We are excited about the effective and quality of services that we are pursuing and developing at Origami.
