Erika Magers, LPC, ATR-BC
My graduate-level training was in Counseling and Art Therapy at Wayne State University in Detroit. Before that, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Michigan State University and worked as an artist doing mural projects across Michigan that focused on building connections and healthy communities. I love to incorporate creativity into therapy sessions and use a Holistic approach to support mental health and well-being. In addition to more traditional “talk therapy”, I also provide experiential therapies such as nature-based, mindfulness, art, play, and sand therapy.
I am trained in a variety of therapeutic interventions and like to tailor my approach to each individual’s needs and preferences. I am skilled in supporting people who have experienced something traumatic, are going through life transitions, or have anxiety or depression. I am also trained in mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), person-centered, and existential approaches. I strive to provide an open-minded, authentic, and non-judgmental space where joy and humor can be expressed, as well as a place where the more difficult feelings can be safely explored. I see children, teens, and adults.
