Post Concussion Syndrome

Post-concussion syndrome occurs when symptoms from a concussion or mild traumatic brain injury persist beyond the expected recovery period. These ongoing symptoms may affect physical, cognitive, emotional, and sensory functioning, impacting daily activities, work, school, and quality of life. The presentation and duration of post-concussion symptoms vary widely based on the nature of the injury, prior history, and individual factors.

How We Help

Comprehensive, interdisciplinary rehabilitation plays an important role in managing symptoms and supporting recovery from Post-Concussion Syndrome. At Origami, we provide individualized, evidence-based care tailored to each person’s unique symptoms, goals, and stage of recovery.

Our clinicians work closely with clients and families to develop treatment plans that emphasize symptom management, gradual progression of activity, and a safe return to daily routines, work, school, sports, and recreational activities.

Our interdisciplinary team may include:

  • Physical Therapy to address balance, vestibular function, cervical spine involvement, endurance, and return-to-activity progression
  • Occupational Therapy to support cognitive strategies, visual-perceptual skills, daily functioning, and return-to-work or school planning
  • Speech-Language Pathology to address cognitive-communication challenges such as attention, memory, and executive functioning
  • Vision and vestibular rehabilitation approaches to address dizziness, visual motion sensitivity, and gaze stability
  • Education for clients and families on symptom management, pacing, energy conservation, and concussion recovery

Our compassionate team focuses on helping individuals reduce symptoms, rebuild tolerance for daily activities, and regain confidence as they return to meaningful participation in their lives.
